How HireHustle uses AI
Last updated October 2026. Plain answers to what AI does in HireHustle, what it sees, and what it is never allowed to do.
Which AI
- Built in, free: a language model run for HireHustle on Cloudflare Workers AI. Nothing to set up.
- Your own, if you choose: Claude through the HireHustle helper on your own computer, or an API key you add (Anthropic, OpenAI or a compatible service). Your choice is in Settings → AI.
What AI does
- Writes the short line in each mail that names the job's skills your resume shows.
- Drafts answers to recruiter replies, from your saved answers. You read, edit and send them.
- Rewords your resume for a job description (tailoring), using only what the resume already says plus skills you have confirmed.
- Reads years of experience from your resume when a quick-apply form asks for them.
- Answers questions you ask about your own job-search data ("Who replied this week?").
What it sees
Only what that one task needs: the job description, your resume text, the recruiter's message, or your question. It is sent to the AI you use, to produce that answer, and is not kept for anything else by HireHustle.
What AI is never allowed to do
- Send anything. Replies to recruiters and messages in chats are only ever sent by you.
- Invent experience. Every tailored resume is checked: an edit that adds a skill, tool, employer, date or number your resume doesn't have is thrown away. Skills you confirmed yourself are the only additions.
- Answer work authorization, visa, rate, salary or personal-detail questions. Drafts leave work authorization for you to type; quick-apply forms that ask these are skipped.
- Write ID numbers (passport, SSN, date of birth) into any mail, form or sheet.
You can check its work
Every tailored resume has a See changes view showing each paragraph before and after. Every quick application has a receipt of the questions asked and the answers given.
